AKMU COLLABORATION ALBUM “NEXT EPISODE” LP

AKMU's new album, “NEXT EPISODE,” is a new episode that is starting four years after “SUMMER EPISODE” was released in 2017. It is being introduced as AKMU's "first collaborative album," featuring several well-known artists.

Boasting a splendid line-up of collaborations, this album features artists Lee Sun-hee, IU, Zion.T, Beenzino, Jannabi’s Choi Jung-hoon, Crush, and Sam Kim. Together with PEEJAY, Lee Hyeon-yeong, and MILLENNIUM, Jukjae and producer Lee Chan-hyuk participated in the composing and arranging of this album after demonstrating their musical synergy in past AKMU albums. “NEXT EPISODE” not only shows us never-before-seen musical attempts, but also features artists that have never participated in AKMU discography thus far. Inspired by retro sounds from the second half of the 20th century, a fresher and more experimental genre and narrative were created with the added unique musical colors of each of the featured artists.

The theme that weaved this album, “NEXT EPISODE,” is “Beyond Freedom.” Going beyond just physical comfort and convenience, “transcendental freedom” is inner freedom that is not affected by any environment or condition. AKMU has broken down this theme into different stories within the seven songs on this tracklist.

“NEXT EPISODE” contains a story of the will not to lose inner strength or succumb to situations which one cannot solve alone, other people’s standards and opinions, and personal pain. The album contains a message of comfort and optimism that says we can find hope together even in difficult situations and eventually reach the destinations of which we have been dreaming.

“NEXT EPISODE” conveys the message that AKMU will be by your side no matter what hardship you are facing. Through this message, we hope that AKMU’s first collaborative album will give you faith and comfort.
